Caught Tokyo’s attention as well, after Toronto

Juvenile Offender, invited to the Competitive section of Tokyo International Film Festival

Juvenile Offender had been invited to the Contemporary World Cinema section of Toronto International Film Festival and is now invited to the Competitive Section of the 25th Tokyo International Film Festival. Starring LEE Jung-hyun and SEO Young-joo, Juvenile Offender is a film directed by KANG Yi-kwan who had won the Interantional Federation of Film Critics award with the film Sakwa at Toronto International Film Festival back in year 2005.

It is about a juvenile who goes in and out of jail, meeting his mom in 16 years and finding the hidden truth. Juvenile Offender which is to be competed with 14 other titles all around the world, is planned to be screend as Asia Premiere at Tokyo International Film Festival, being held from Oct. 20-28, Tokyo International Film Festival has also invited 3 other Korean film to th Film Panorama of Asia-Middle East secton and they are, director PARK Hee-gon’s Perfect Game, KIM Jee-woon and YIM Pil-sung’s Doomsday Book, JANG Kun-jae’s Sleepless Night.

The press conference to announce the 25th edition of the Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF) was held on September 20th at Roppongi Hills, Tokyo. The press conference opened with a welcoming address from Hideyuki Takai (President, UNIJAPAN) and Tom Yoda (Chairman, TIFF & TIFFCOM). Director Tetsuaki Matsue and TIFF Ambassador Atsuko Maeda were also in attendance as special guests.

The press conference included the announcement of the fifteen films in the Competition Section. Also announced were members of the International Jury including President of Jury, Roger Corman. Representing the films of the Competition Section, director Tetsuaki Matsue from Flashback Memories 3D took the microphone to share his enthusiasm for the film festival and shared a few behind the scenes stories from the making of his film.

A total of 1,332 titles from 91 countries and regions were submitted to TIFF this year. In addition to the films in the Competition Section, a total of around 300 films will be screened during the film festival.
