The world continues to pay attention to IM’s 102nd work
Revivre, the 102nd film by director
IM Kwon-taek was officially invited to the 33rd Vancouver International Film Festival. This invitation is the third one after invitations by the 71st Venice International Film Festival and the 39th Toronto International Film Festival and substantiates the world’s strong interest in the film. The Vancouver International Film Festival is one of the three major film festivals in North America that draw over 100,000 spectators every year. The film jubilee is called a gateway for Asian film to enter North America since the event has paid much attention to Asian films.
Revivre was invited to the Dragon and Tiger section that has concentrated on films from East Asia including Korea, Japan, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Indonesia and Thailand since its birth in 1985. This year, a variety of East Asian films were invited including Revivre, The Midnight After by world-acclaimed director Fruit CHAN of Hong Kong, Coming Home by Zhang YIMOU of China, Nuoc 2013 by NGUYEN-VO Nghiem-Minh of Vietnam, Rekorder by Mikhail RED of the Philippines.
Revivre is based on a novel by KIM Hoon that took home the Lee Sang Literary Prize in 2004. The film depicts the agony of a middle-aged man who desires the bodies of young women despite the fact that his wife is dying. The original novel was belauded for its profound reflection about and excellent description of human beings who live, feeling the weight and lightness of lives between moribund things and things that come back to life again. Film critics say that veteran director IM successfully filmed it from his unique profound perspective.
Revivre receives much attention since, in the film, director IM portrays the lives of people in the contemporary era among others.

Busan International Film Festival that will kick off on October 2.
