Born in 1970, KIM Hak-sun was doing his compulsory military service when he befriended a man who happened to be the director of a pungmul troupe (a form of traditional folk music and dance performance) and was offered to serve as the group’s manager. After a run of performances at Theater Gaga, in Daehangno, Seoul, his administrative work for the pungmul band became too much to bear for the college student he was, and so he quit the band and took a part-time job offer from Theater Gaga. He later attended the Performing Arts Academy and began to perform as an actor with Yeonwoo Theater. Around the same time, he made his first foray into films with a role in HONG Sang-soo’s <On the Occasion Of Remembering The Turning Gate> (2002), and he could also be seen in the one-shot indie feature <The Magicians> (2005). Among his most well-known roles are <A Million> (2009), <Juror 8> (2019), <Moonlit Winter> (2019) and <#ALIVE> (2019). He also appeared in TV series such as <Signal> (2016), <Fight For My Way> (2017), <Something in the Rain> (2018) and in the second season of <Stranger> (2020). More recently, he starred alongside his actress wife KIM Jung-young in <Merry Christmas Mr. Mo> and <Oh! My Gran>. The two also played a couple in the drama series <Heard It Through the Grapevine> (2015).
