Filming Wraps on Latest Film from Director IM Sang-soo

Director IM Sang-soo’s latest film To the Land of Happiness (working title) wrapped production on October 19. The thriller features CHOI Min-shik and PARK Hae-il, marking the first on-screen pairing for the two stars.

CHOI and PARK play two men who meet by chance and decide to go on a trip, in search of one last taste of happiness. However, something unexpected takes place during the journey.

Aside from a brief special appearance in the summer hit The Battle: Roar to Victory, Old Boy (2003) star CHOI Min-shik has been absent from screens since the election drama The Mayor and the trail thriller Heart Blackened, both released in 2017. He will also appear alongside HAN Suk-kyu in HUR Jin-ho’s upcoming period drama Forbidden Dream, which is currently in post-production.

PARK Hae-il, known for BONG Joon-ho’s Memories of Murder (2003) and The Host (2006), among many other credits, was last seen alongside SONG Kang-ho in this summer’s period drama The King’s Letters.

The project marks the return of director IM Sang-soo, whose last film Intimate Enemies was released by Warner Bros. Korea in 2015. IM is known for acclaimed works such as A Good Lawyer’s Wife (2003) and The President’s Last Bang (2005), as well as his Cannes Film Festival competition entries The Housemaid (2010) and The Taste of Money (2012).

Produced by Hive Media Corp., the company behind The Last Princess (2016), GONJIAM: Haunted Asylum (2018) and The Drug King (2018), To the Land of Happiness is currently in post-production and will hit screens at some point in 2020.
