CGV LA Ranks 2nd in Per Screen Sales Figures
CGV LA has recorded a 34% seat sales share in October, ranking second in the overall per screen sales in the whole of the U.S. The figure was announced on October 31st by Rentrak, a real-time theater sales research company which added that CGV LA recorded 110,004 seat sales in October per screen. Analysts say part of the reason for this success is a specialized Korean-style premium service provided by CGV LA as well as an increasing interest in Korean blockbusters fueled by
Masquerade and
The Thieves.
The venue is carrying out roles for other diverse events ranging from cultural to political. For example, on October 24th the SF epic Cloud Atlas had a special screening there and on November 14th the venue served as a discussion forum for Los Angeles mayoral candidates.
A person associated with CGV LA said that it is amazing for the venue to rank 2nd in the per screen sales in the U.S., adding that this is proof that Korean-style multiplexes can succeed and that Korean films can also succeed in the U.S. market.
