- New Works by Korean Auteurs Invited to Golden Horse

The Taipei Golden Horse International Film Festival has invited a trio of Korean works to screen at its 2016 edition, which will take in November from the 4th to the 24th. These include KIM Ki-duk’s THE NET, HONG Sang-soo’s Yourself and Yours and LEE Kyoung-mi’s The Truth Beneath.KIM’s latest work THE NET, his 22nd, features RYOO Seung-bum as a North Korean fisherman who inadvertently drifts south of the DMZ line when his net gets caught in his engine. The film debuted in the Venice Days section of the Venice International Film Festival this year and went on to screen at the Toronto and Busan International Film Festivals. The film will screen in the Master Class section.Following his worldwide bow at the Toronto International Film Festival, HONG’s Yourself and Yours, featuring KIM Joo-hyuk and LEE Yoo-young, has begun to screen extensively around the world, including stops at the Vancouver, New York and Hawaii International Film Festivals. HONG also picked up the Silver Shell for Best Director from the San Sebastian International Film Festival. Golden Horse will screen the title in its Viva Auteur program.LEE’s second work The Truth Beneath, a political thriller with SON Ye-jin and once more KIM Joo-hyuk, bowed internationally at Fantastic Fest and will serve as the opening film of the London Korean Film Festival next month before screening in the Windows on Asia sidebar in Taipei.
