Korean sales outfit FINECUT has reported international sales for its new zombie animation title Seoul Station. The film, which acts as a prequel to the current live action box office behemoth TRAINT TO BUSAN, is also directed by YEON Sang-ho and has sealed deals for 12 foreign territories to date.

Among the film’s buyers were FilmRise in the US, Splendid for Germany, Austria, Benelux and Switzerland, Edko Films for Hong Kong and Macau, Nihon Sky Way for Japan, Myanmar Cineplex for Myanmar and Moviecloud for Taiwan.

Originally screened at the Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival, Seoul Station follows a broken family caught in the centre of Seoul at night during the beginning of a zombie apocalypse. The following day’s events are chronicled in TRAINT TO BUSAN, which debuted at the Cannes Film Festival and has topped 11 million admissions (USD 80 million) at the Korean box office so far.

Seoul Station has also screened at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, the Edinburgh International Film Festival, the Fantasia International Film Festival, where it picked up the top animation prize, and the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival, where it served as the closing film. It will soon screen at the Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival. On its first day of release in Korea on August 17th, the film brought in 30,000 viewers (USD 215,000).
