  • Hong Sangsoo and KIM Ki-duk Invited to TIFF Masters Program
  • by Pierce Conran /  Aug 22, 2016
  • YOURSELF AND YOURS and THE NET to Screen in Toronto

More Korean films have been revealed as part of this year’s Toronto International Film Festival lineup, with the announcement of the Masters program, which showcases the work of celebrated global auteurs. Joining the lineup this year will be the latest titles by HONG Sang-soo and KIM Ki-duk, Yourself and Yours and The Net.

HONG’s Yourself and Yours, his 18th film, will have its world premiere in Toronto, following which it is scheduled to screen at the San Sebastian International Film Festival and the New York Film Festival. Starring KIM Joo-hyuk and LEE Yoo-young, the film comes on the heels of Right Now, Wrong Then, which earned HONG the Golden Leopard from the Locarno International Film Festival last year.

The Net is the 22nd film by the provocative KIM Ki-duk, following his Japan-set drama Stop (2015). Starring RYOO Seung-bum as a North Korean fisherman mistaken for a spy in the south, The Net will have its North American premiere in Toronto, shortly after its world premiere at the Venice International Film Festival.

Yourself and Yours and The Net join previously announced Korean titles at TIFF which include KIM Jee-woon’s The Age of Shadows, KIM Sung-soo’s Asura: The City of Madness and PARK Chan-wook’s The Handmaiden.

TIFF will unspool over September 8th to 18th.
