  • Youth Film TWENTY to Bow in North America
  • by Pierce Conran /  Apr 15, 2015
  • KIM Woo-bin Comedy to Meet US Viewers

The youth comedy Twenty, which is in the midst of a successful run in Korean theaters, will be unveiled in North American multiplexes this Friday (April 17). Though financed and distributed domestically by Next Entertainment World (NEW), the film’s stateside release is being handled by CJ Entertainment America, which distributes about 20 to 24 titles per annum on the continent.

Featuring redhot star KIM Woo-bin, last seen The Con Artists, alongside LEE Jun-ho and KANG Ha-nuel, Twenty follows three youths on the cusp of adulthood, each experiencing their own growing pains. The film marks the second directorial outing of LEE Byoung-heon, who debuted to acclaim with the indie Cheer Up Mr. Lee, a comedy-drama that was awarded a CGV Movie Collage Award at the Jeonju International Film Festival in 2013.

LEE’s film will get a simultaneous release in 25 theaters, in cities such as Los Angeles, New York, Chicago and Dallas, as well as in Toronto and Vancouver in Canada. Following its first place debut on March 25th in Korea, Twenty has to date accumulated 2.77 million admissions (USD 19.53 million) and is still ranked third at the box office.
