  • Project Wolf Hunting, Invited to MIDNIGHT MADNESS of the 47th Toronto Int’l Film Festival
  • by Park Hyejin /  Aug 05, 2022

  •

The film, Project Wolf Hunting, has officially been invited to the MIDNIGHT MADNESS section of the 47th Toronto International Film Festival, which will open on September 8th (local time). Along with Cannes, Venice, and Berlin, the Toronto International Film Festival is one of the world's four renowned film festivals and the largest film festival in North America. MIDNIGHT MADNESS is an official section in which genre films with strong visuals such as action, horror, and fantasy are screened at dawn.

It is the first invitation in 16 years after Director Bong Joonho's The Host was screened at the MIDNIGHT MADNESS section at the Toronto Film Festival in 2006. Project Wolf Hunting is a hard-boiled survival action film in which the characters face an unprecedented and extreme situation when they bring the brutal criminals from the Pacific to South Korea. Kim Hongsun, the director of Metamorphosis (2019) and The Con Artists (2014), wrote and directed the film, starring actors such as Seo Inguk, Jang Dongyun, Choi Gwihwa, and Sung Dongil

Peter Kuplowsky, the programmer of MIDNIGHT MADNESS at the Toronto International Film Festival, said, "I'm thrilled to screen the film, Project Wolf Hunting, officially at the MIDNIGHT MADNESS section at the Toronto International Film Festival this year. I’m a big fan of genre movies that start with one type of movie and then turn shockingly into another, and in this regard, Project Wolf Hunting has a very good composition and development," explaining the reason for the invitation. The worldwide premiere of Project Wolf Hunting will meet genre fans at midnight at the Ryerson Theater with 1,237 seats.

At the Toronto International Film Festival this year, besides Project Wolf Hunting, which has been invited to MIDNIGHT MADNESS, Director Lee Jungjae’s Hunt has been invited to Gala Presentation and Director Jung Woosung’s A Man of Reason to Special Presentation. Also, Director Park Chanwook’s Decision to Leave, Director Kore-eda Hirokazu’s Broker, and Director Hong Sangsoo’s Walk Up have put titles on the invitation list.
