  • Indie Darling JEONG Ga-young to Make Commercial Debut for CJ

Rising stars JUN Jong-seo and SON Suk-ku will be teaming up for the romantic comedy Woo-ri, Ja-young (working title), which will mark the commercial filmmaking debut of acclaimed indie filmmaker JEONG Ga-young.

Ja-young (JUN Jong-seo) is a 29-year-old woman who is deep in debt. After her one-month boyfriend dumps her, she vows off relationships. 33-year-old Woo-ri (SON Suk-ku) is a reporter who writes a sex column but dreams of becoming a writer.

JUN Jong-seo made waves when she debuted on the big screen, in LEE Chang-dong’s Cannes-invited BURNING (2018) opposite YOO Ah-in and Steven YEUN. She has since acted in the thriller CALL along PARK Shin-hye, which is completed and awaiting release. Following a career on the stage, SON Suk-ku landed a major role in the season 2 of the international Netflix series Sense8 and has since appeared in Hit-and-Run Squad (2019).

Director JEONG debuted with Bitch on the Beach, which she wrote, directed and starred in, with screenings at the Seoul Independent Film Festival in 2016. She performed the same duties on Hit the Night (2018), which won her the Actor of the Year Award at the Busan International Film Festival in 2017, before screening at the Berlin International Film Festival the following year. Her third film HEART, from 2019, also debuted in Busan.

Woo-ri, Ja-young, which will be financed and distributed by CJ Entertainment, is expected to go into production later this year.
