- Horror-Comedy Features KIM Nam-gil, UHM Ji-won and JUNG Jae-youngKorean horror-comedy The Odd Family: Zombie On Sale will hit screens on February 14. From new director LEE Min-jae, the film stars KIM Nam-gil (The Shameless, 2015), UHM Ji-won (MISSING, 2016), JUNG Jae-young (Right Now, Wrong Then, 2015), LEE Su-gyeong (Heart Blackened, 2017), JUNG Ga-ram (The Poet and The Boy, 2017) and PARK In-hwan (Miss Granny, 2014).LEE’s film focuses on a rural family comprising a patriarch who runs a gas station and his three grown-up children who encounter a young man who happens to be a zombie. The film will make something of a comeback for veteran star JUNG Jae-young, who hasn’t had a leading role since 2015’s YOU CALL IT PASSION, though he did appear in Hong Sangsoo’s On the Beach at Night Alone in 2017.Zombie-themed films and TV shows have become increasingly prominent in the Korean market, following the success of YEON Sang-ho’s smash hit action-horror TRAIN TO BUSAN in 2016. Recent additions to the genre have included KIM Sung-hoon’s period zombie horror-thriller Rampant (2018) with HYUN Bin and the upcoming Netflix Original Series Kingdom, directed by KIM Seong-hun and featuring RYU Seung-ryong, BAE Doo-na and JU Ji-hoon.The Odd Family: Zombie On Sale will be distributed by Megabox Plus, which recently released films such as YIM Soon-rye’s Little Forest (2018), LEE Joon-ik’s Sunset in My Hometown (2018), PARK Hee-gon’s FENGSHUI and LEE Kwon’s Door Lock (2018).
