  • Stan LEE’s Story Idea Being Developed into Korean Superhero Series
  • by Pierce Conran /  Dec 07, 2018
  • Korean Drama Scribe KANG Eun-kyung Set to Pen THE B-TEAM

A superhero TV show drawn from an idea by the late comic book pioneer Stan LEE is being developed in Korea. The B-Team, which assembles several second-rank superhero characters in a story about how they end up fighting with the mad scientist who created them, is being written by noted Korean drama scribe KANG Eun-kyung, known for the 2010 hit series King of Baking, Kim Takgu, and her creative outfit Plot Line.

The show will be produced by Studios Invictus, who will work alongside JYP Pictures, the film and TV production subdivision of Korean leading talent agency JYP Entertainment, and Camsing International, the Chinese company that purchased LEE’s POW! Entertainment. A Korean and a Chinese version of the series are being developed, both of which will be written by KANG and her team, though each will feature different settings and actors.

The B-Team is a global project that involves Hollywood’s intellectual property and know-how in making superhero flicks, as well as renowned actors and creators that are leading the Korean wave,” said KIM Kyung-won, CEO of Invictus, in a statement on Thursday. “We hope to set a successful prototype for Asian superhero dramas.”

While no cast has been announced as of yet, Invictus has indicated that the project is being prepared for a 2020 launch.
