- Special Jury Prize for JANG Woo-jin at Nantes

- Jeonju Cinema Project WINTER’S NIGHT Awarded in FranceJANG Woo-jin’s third film Winter’s Night, which debuted as one of this year’s feature-length Jeonju Cinema Projects at the Jeonju International Film Festival in the spring, has picked up the Special Jury Prize from the 40th edition of the Festival of the Three Continents in Nantes.Set in JANG’s hometown of Chuncheon, Winter’s Night follows a middle-aged couple who return to the tourist town to relive memories of the beginning of their relationship. When they miss a ferry back to the mainland they find themselves stuck in a remote area overnight, during which they cross a young couple who seem oddly similar to them in their youth.Director JANG debuted with A Fresh Start, which picked up the Grand Prize at Jeonju in 2014, and he followed that up with Autumn, Autumn, which bowed at the Busan International Film Festival in 2016. Winter’s Night stars SEO Young-hwa (On the Beach at Night Alone, 2017) and YANG Heung-joo, who also featured in Autumn, Autumn. This film was released in Korean theaters on September 26.Previous Korean prize winners in Nantes include Hong Sangsoo, who picked up the festival top prize, the Golden Montgolfiere Award, for his arthouse drama Hill of Freedom in 2014, and JANG Kun-jae’s Sleepless Night, which earned a Special Mention from the Jury in 2012.
