  • Korean Film Festival Takes Place in Cities of Manila, Baguio, Davao, Iloilo, and Cebu



    Hosted by the Korean Cultural Center (KCC, Director LEE Jin-cheol), this year’s Korean Film Festival in the Philippines will screen five Korean films

    Under the theme "Time Travel", from August 29 to September 26, the festival is screening the following movies: LEE Seok-hoon’s The Pirates (2014), CHOI Dong-hoon’s Assassination (2015), LEE Joon-ik’s DONGJU; The Portrait of A Poet (2016), CHUNG Yoon-chul’s WARRIORS OF THE DAWN (2017) and YOON Jong-bin’s Nameless Gangster : Rules of the Time (2012). All films are period pieces from well-known Korean directors. “This year’s lineup will show Korea’s rich history from the Joseon Dynasty era through the Japanese occupation all the way to the 1980s.” said the KCC.  

    This year’s festival is sequentially taking place in five cities of the Philippines namely Manila, Baguio, Davao, Iloilo, and Cebu. The festival’s opening ceremony took place on August 29 in the SM Megamall in Manila, and a guest visit with The Pirates 's director LEE Seok-hoon was held at the University of the Philippines Diliman (UPD) on August 30. The festival will be held in the SM Megamall in Manila on September 12/13, in the SM Baguio on September 8/9, and in Davao's SM Lanang Premier on September 15/16. It will end with screenings at the SM City in Iloilo on September 22/23 and SM City in Cebu on September 29/30.
