Starring 2PM’s Nichkhun, Brother of the Year has been doing well in Thailand since its release on May 10th. This romantic comedy topped the box-office in terms of sales as of May 13th, beating Marvel’s blockbuster Avengers: Infinity War. It has generated as much as THB 66 million (USD 2 million) so far, making it the most successful Thai movie this year. Brother of the Year has been presold to almost every regions of Southeast Asia including Indonesia, Laos, Brunei, Singapore, Vietnam, the Philippines and China for a summer release. 

Brother of the Year’s cast includes actor Sunny SUWANMETHANONT and actress Urassaya SPERBUND, both very popular artists in Thailand. This marks Nichkhun’s comeback to the big screen, since his movie debut in Thailand with Seven Something in 2012. Brother of the Year follows the story of a girl and her boyfriend, as well as her bullying big brother. SPERBUND and SUWANMETHANONT star as Jane and her brother Chut, while Nichkhun plays the role of Mochi, Jane’s boyfriend. The film production company GDH559 plans to give the film a wide theatrical release later this year. Independent Taipei-based distributor Catchplay also picked up the title at the Cannes Film Market 2018.
