  • ACF 2018 Submissions Now Open
  • by KIM Su-bin /  Apr 13, 2018
  • Indie Film Production Fund, Post-Production Fund and Asian Network Fund Available

The Asian Cinema Fund (ACF) has opened its submissions for 2018. The different categories of funding available are Indie Film Production Fund, Post-Production Fund and Asian Network of Documentary (AND) Fund.

First of all, the Indie Film Production Fund selects one Korean project that will receive a production grant of USD 200,000, as well as free post-production support (color grading, sound mixing, DCP creation, and English subtitling). All independent feature-length projects with a production budget under USD 1 million are eligible.

The Post-Production Fund is divided into Korean and Asian projects. For Korean applicants, the director must have Korean nationality and be living in Korea. The production budget must be under USD 1 million, and the feature film must be shot in digital format. They should not have screened or released any films before, and 80% of the shooting must be done at the time of the submission, with the editing to be completed by June. For Asian projects, the director must come from an Asian country, and the project must include Asian elements in the story, themes, characters, or backgrounds. The editing and pre-mixing should be completed by June, and the final product cannot be screened or released beforehand.

The AND Fund is a fund for feature-length indie documentaries, also divided into Korean and Asian projects. The Korean projects must be at least 60 minutes long and aimed for theaters. Any documentary project, be it in pre-production, production, or post-production stage, can be submitted. As for Asian projects, they must be from an Asian director or a non-Asian director based in Asia. Projects in any stage of production can be submitted.

All three funding categories will accept submissions until 5:00 p.m. (GMT+9), April 20. For more information, please visit their website http://acf.biff.kr/structure/kor/ (in Korean) or http://acf.biff.kr/structure/eng/ (in English).
