Roku Channel Coming to Samsung Electronics’ Smart TVs!
The Roku Channel is expected to soon become available on Samsung Smart TVs. On March 25th, Samsung Electronics announced that they will provide Roku Channel as an app on select Samsung Smart TVs this summer.
Listed on the New York Stock Exchange since last September, Roku became a leading streaming media company in North America, beating Apple TV, Amazon Fire and Google Chromecast. Nowadays, about 50% of adults and 80% of teenagers use Roku in the U.S. It could help secure a lot of users thanks to its free, ad-supported, video service unlike other pay-per-view providers like Netflix.
Roku already played a crucial role in Chinese electronics manufacturer TCL’s explosive growth in the U.S. market by launching new appliances with them, including smart TVs and smart speakers. Through Roku, Samsung Electronics also expresses its strategy to target American consumers. The Korean tech giant will provide hundreds of movies and TV shows for free to the ad-supported streaming channel Roku, which will be available for download through an application in the Smart TVs.
