  • Showbox’s First Entry to Southeast Asia, FOREVER HOLIDAY IN BALI Opens in Local Theaters
  • by KIM Su-bin /  Feb 12, 2018
  • Film Performs Strongly Amongst Hollywood Blockbusters

Production and distribution company Showbox finally took the veil off of their first Indonesian project Forever Holiday in Bali. For this co-production film, Showbox was involved from the planning stage with their Indonesian partner. Since being released on January 11th, the film has remained popular among the local audience despite competition from many Hollywood blockbusters.

Forever Holiday in Bali is about a Korean idol star who visits Bali to shoot a music video, and ends up going on a trip around Bali with an Indonesian college student. Ody C. Harahap who directed the Indonesian adaptation of Miss Granny (2014) is film’s director. The romantic comedy is cheerful and bright, and the beautiful scenery shot in the famous vacation spots are some of the movie’s charms.

Thunder, who used to be a member of idol boy group, MBLAQ, plays K, the films’ protagonist. He appeared on an Indonesian talk show to discuss different episodes that happened while shooting the film. Through this project, Thunder was able to have his silver screen debut. He commented, “We are getting good reviews on the film, but it was very awkward to see myself acting. The character has a lot in common with me, so it wasn’t too much pressure.” Forever Holiday in Bali is set to meet many more Southeast Asian film fans when it is released in Malaysia and the Philippines.
