Popular web cartoons, Itaewon Class and Makeup Story will be made into TV series. Korean production and distribution company Showbox signed contracts for the domestic and foreign rights to dramatize the two webtoons and has begun planning and development. The company succeeded in making webtoon Inside Men into a movie, and is holding contests for web novels and web cartoons to secure more original content. Showbox looks to create new opportunities by continuously dramatizing webtoon properties.    

GWANG Jin’s Itaewon Class centers around Saeroi Park, a young man who opens a restaurant in Itaewon against all odds. In the story, Saeroi has lost his father due to the actions of his adversary, whose father happens to be the chairman of a major food service company. This web cartoon topped the weekly sales chart of the Daum Webtoon site. Its main character frequently fights social irregularities and his cutting lines are loved by readers. Showbox will make this webtoon into a unique drama with cinematic points. 

YEO Eun’s romance web cartoon Makeup Story is about a college freshman who is not good at makeup and comes across a mysterious doll. Webtoonist YEO has made a new approach to applying makeup to things into stories. Makeup Story currently has the largest number of subscribers amongst web toons that hold first place rankings on the Daum Webtoon platform. The series also has a very strong following in China, Japan, the United States and Thailand. In addition, Showbox will work in collaboration with the beauty industry while producing the drama.
