- Netflix Picks Up FORGOTTEN for Global Distribution

- Korean Mystery-Thriller to Be Made Available in 190 Countries
Online streaming giant Netflix has picked up international distribution rights for upcoming Korean mystery thriller Forgotten. Following the film’s domestic theatrical bow on November 29th, it will be made available to the service’s 109 million subscribers in 190 countries in early 2018.Starring KANG Ha-neul and GIM Mu-yeol, Forgotten is the story of two brothers who experience strange events when they move to a new apartment. Yu-seok (GIM) is kidnapped on their first day there, following which his younger brother Jin-seok (KANG) begins to experience hallucinations. 19 days later, Yu-seok returns, but he is suffering from memory loss and behaving like a different person. Jin-seok sets out to uncover what really happened, as he delves into the murder case hidden in Yu-seok’s fractured memories.Forgotten, which bears the Korean title ‘Night of Memories’, is the first theatrical feature by ZHANG Hang-jun since 2003’s action comedy Break Out. ZHANG has also been active as an actor (Hellcats, 2008) and script editor (A Hard Day, 2014).The film comes from powerhouse producer JANG Won-seok, who has recently been responsible for hits such as A Hard Day, Tunnel and THE OUTLAWS. JANG related that his production outfit Kiwi Company signed a distribution contract with Netflix during the film’s script writing stage, a first for a Korean film. Netflix has previously purchased global rights to titles such as Pandora and Lucid Dream, but only during post-production.
