Planning to Show Korean movies Dubbed into Kirghiz and to Hold Korean Wave Events
A Korean style multiplex has launched in the Central Asian country of Kyrgyzstan. YUYU KOREA, a company with expertise in theater systems, opened the Multiplex 3D, KinoBox in Osh, Kyrgyzstan on July 4th, a first among Korean companies. The venue is a result of negotiations with the nation’s Department of Cinematography and Osh city for two years and meticulous preparations since 2014.
The opening ceremony was attended by about 300 visitors including Tugelbai Kazakov, Minister of Culture, Information and Tourism, Zamirbek Askarov, Senior Vice Mayor of the city of Osh, and famous local stars Samara Karimova and Nurlan Nasip. For its grand opening the theater showed Hollywood blockbuster Transformers: The Last Knight as well as domestic movies.
KinoBox is screening Hollywood blockbusters and Russian films as well as Korean movies dubbed into the local language. Furthermore, it will feature various independent films and Asian films. Meanwhile, it has wireless presentation systems and stage facilities to be used as a place for exhibitions, showcases and previews, so it is in the process of planning Korean film festivals and Korean wave concerts.
Starting with Kyrgyzstan, YUYU KOREA plans to expand throughout Central Asia. Osh, which has the first KinoBox, is the second largest city in the country after its capital, Bishkek. KinoBox in Osh will attract a lot of audiences because it is located at a key point bordering on Kyrgyzstan, China, Tadjikistan and Uzbekistan.
