THE AGE OF SHADOWS, THE KING and TRAIN TO BUSAN Score 2 Prizes a Piece

A broad selection of critically acclaimed works triumphed at the 53rd BaekSang Arts Awards, reflecting the quality of Korean cinema over the past year. Topping the night with the Grand Prize was PARK Chan-wook’s The Handmaiden. PARK previously won the Best Director Award twice. Best Film went to NA Hong-jin’s THE WAILING while KIM Jee-woon earned the Best Director Award for The Age of Shadows.

The Age of Shadows star SONG Kang-ho triumphed in the Best Actor category, finally taking the prize after six nominations, though he also received the Grand Prize for his performance in The Attorney three years ago. SON Ye-jin of The Last Princess earned yet another Best Actress accolade, her fourth BaekSang prize and second the Best Actress Award in a film.

KIM Eui-sung earned the Best Supporting Actor Prize for his part in TRAIN TO BUSAN and KIM So-jin came away with the Best Supporting Actress Award for The King. KIM’s co-star RYU Jun-yeol won Best New Actor and Our Love Story’s LEE Sang-hee was given the Best New Actress Prize. TRAIN TO BUSAN director YEON Sang-ho won the Best New Director Prize.

Meanwhile DOH Kyung-soo of MY ANNOYING BROTHER and Yoon-a of Confidential Assignment won the Most Popular Actor and Actress prizes.
