  • Juries Announced for 18th Jeonju International Film Festival

    The 18th Jeonju International Film Festival is just around the corner and festival has announced the various international members of its juries for the festival’s various competitions, which include the ‘International Competition’, ‘Korean Competition’, ‘Korean Competition for Shorts’ and the ‘NETPAC Award’.

    Judging over the films in JIFF’s international section will be Jean-Pierre Rehm, the director of the International Film Festival of Marseille, director Ildikó ENYEDI, who made this year’s opening film On Body and Soul, which was the Golden Bear winner at the Berlin International Film Festival, French filmmaker Dominique Cabrera (The Milk of Human Kindness, 2001), Voice of a Murderer (2007) director PARK Jin-pyo, and popular actress HA Ji-won of The Duelist (2005) and Haeundae (2009).

    Seeing over the films in the Korean Competition section will be Hong Kong International Film Festival curator Jacob WONG, Mar de Plata International Film Festival programmer Cecilia Barrionuevo and Failan (2001) director SONG Hae-sung.

    For Korean Shorts, the jury consists of Tampere International Film Festival executive director Jukka-Pekka Laakso, Worst Woman (2016) director KIM Jong-kwan and Nobody’s Daughter Haewon (2013) star JUNG Eun-chae.

    Finally, the NETPAC jury, which will award a prize to the best Korean feature film in Korea Cinemascape program, is made up of Cine21 film critic HAN Chang-ho, documentary filmmaker Alka SADAT and London Asian Film Festival executive director JEON Hye-jeong.

    This year’s Jeonju International Film Festival will kick off on April 27th and conclude on May 7th.
