34th BISFF Goes Live April 25th
For its 34th edition, which will kick off on April 25th and run until the 30th, the
Busan International Short Film Festival (BISFF) will include a special focus on Canada for its Guest Country Program in honor of the 150th anniversary of the country’s founding. Started in 2012 with a Focus France, the Guest Country Program aims to afford audiences an opportunity to discover different aspects of a given country, such as its culture and society, through a wide selection of short films.
30 Canadian shorts will screen in Busan later this month, split into four categories. Noteworthy short films in Canada will be showcased in the ‘Canadian Panorama’; ‘Canada First Nations’ will comprise tales related to the country’s natives; and the ‘National Film Board of Canada Special’ will include important works produced by the National Film Board of Canada, which is at the cutting edge of new media content production in Canada. The festival is also putting on a ‘BISFF Talk: Duet’ program which will offer more context to the country’s content through a series of talks by Canadian directors who will discuss their personal experiences in film.
Among the guests for the special focus will be First Nation rapper Samian, who will perform during the festival’s opening ceremony, and Ana Serrano, the Chief Digital Officer of the CFC and founder of the CFC Media Lab, who will present a trio of VR projects screening during the event.
The ‘Guest Country Program: Canada’ is being supported by the Embassy of Canada to Korea and the Gouvernement du Québec, Corée.
