  • by KIM Hyun-jung /  Jan 10, 2017
  • AFiS Selected 21 candidates from 17 countries

Busan Asian Film School (AFiS) selected 21 candidates from 17 countries for the 2017 International Film Business Academy beginning in March this year. Busan Film Commission (BFC) finalized its successful candidates out of 114 film talents from 23 countries based on the fairness, diversity of applicants' nationality, their career and knowledge on the film industry, and potential as a producer. There were a lot of producers who currently work in films and TV among successful applicants as the International Film Business Academy is a practice-based course sharing their experience and information.

Bhutanese candidate Jamyang Jamtsho WANGCHUK played a big role in Brad Pitt’s Seven Years in Tibet, and has actively worked as a film producer, director and actor in Bhutan. Cambodian candidate Chandara SO took part in The Missing Picture which was invited to the Un Certain Regard at the Cannes Film Festival, and has worked at the Cambodia Film Commission for several years. Besides, four Korean candidates were finally selected. They are all producers including PARK Sung-ho who used to be a programmer of the Busan International Film Festival (BIFF).

The selectees will begin the curriculum in Busan since March this year to develop film projects and showcase them at BIFF in October. Meanwhile, AFiS is entrusted and operated by BFC.
