Dexter Studios, founded by director KIM Yong-hwa, announced the winners of the 1st Dexter Studios Sci-fi Fantasy Scenario Contest, and hosted its awards presentation at the company’s head office on December 20th. IM Tae-woon’s Gear Monster was selected for the Best Scenario, which depicts a slave boy defeating the ruling forces of the moon through communication with an abandoned monster. In addition, the Best Synopsis/Treatment award went to KIM Ha-neul’s Under Dome which is about breathtaking chases in the bottom of the undersea tunnels. 

Dexter Studios Sci-fi Fantasy Scenario Contest is the first genre specialized scenario contest in Korea: sci-fi feature/animated film, fantasy and adventure. Dexter Studios has announced the winners among 551 entries through a two-month judging process. 

Meanwhile, Dexter Studios, one of Korea’s leading VFX houses and also content production, has teamed up for Chinese blockbusters like director TSUI Hark’s The Taking of Tiger Mountain (2014) and Young Detective Dee: Rise of the Sea Dragon (2013) as well as a local naval adventure The Pirates (2014). The company currently has responsibility for the upcoming two-part fantasy film With God, which is directed by KIM Yong-hwa and based on a webcomic of JU Ho-min.
