  • A QUIET DREAM Competes in Tallinn

The Black Nights Film Festival of Tallinn returns for its 20th edition this year and along for the ride are six films from Korea. Among those, ZHANG Lu’s Busan International Film Festival opener A Quiet Dream is featured in the festival’s competition lineup.

A Quiet Dream, the tenth feature from Chinese-Korean filmmaker ZHANG, features HAN Ye-ri as a Chinese-Korean immigrant fending off the attractions of a trio of men played by filmmakers YANG Ik-june, YOON Jong-bin and PARK Jung-bum. The screening marks the film’s international premiere.

Joining ZHANG’s latest in Estonia are NA Hong-jin’s Cannes-premiered horror-thriller THE WAILING, which is invited to the Screen International Critics’ Choice section, LEE Yoon-ki’s JEON Do-yeon and GONG Yoo-starring melodrama A Man and A Woman in Special Screenings, KIM Seong-hun’s disaster drama Tunnel with HA Jung-woo and BAE Doo-na in the Panorama lineup, YEON Sang-ho’s global smash TRAIN TO BUSAN, also with GONG Yoo, in Midnight Shivers, and A Decent Woman, an Argentinian, Austrian and Korean co-production screening in the Forum section.

Also participating in Tallinn this year is KANG Soo-yeon, the festival director of the Busan International Film Festival, who is featured on this year’s International Competition jury.
