Asia Pacific Screen Awards Assembles ‘Jury of Juries’
KIM Dong-ho, the founder and current chairman of the
Busan International Film Festival, has been selected as one of the juries for the 10th edition for the Asia Pacific Screen Awards. The jury was announced by Cr Graham Quirk, the Lord Mayor of Brisbane, the host city of the awards, during a press conference in Seoul.
Five luminaries of international cinema will make up the jury, all of whom have served as jury members in the past. According to Quirk, “In this milestone tenth year, it is fitting to assemble this ‘Jury of Juries’ of five former APSA International Jury Presidents. They have all played an important role in the development and evolution of APSA, and we are honoured to see them return.”
Leading this year’s jury will be Lord David Puttnam, producer of classic titles such as Chariots of Fire and The Killing Fields. Other members include Hong Kong producer Nansun Shi (The Taking of Tiger Mountain), Palme d’Or and Oscar-winning Australian producer Jan Chapman (The Piano), and famed Indian filmmaker Shyam Benegal.
After founding the Busan International Film Festival in 1996, KIM served as the festival’s director until 2010, following which he remained on as honorary director. Earlier this year he stepped back into a larger role at the festival as its new Chairman of the Board of Directors. The 10th APSAs will take place in Brisbane on Thursday, the 24th of November.
