  • YOON Ga-eun’s Debut Continues to Draw Global Acclaim

Following its well-received world premiere at the Berlin International Film Festival this year, where it screened in the Generations section, YOON Ga-eun’s debut feature film The World of Us continues to draw acclaim on the global festival circuit. Its latest triumph is a Special Mention from the recent Tel Aviv International Children and Youth Film Festival.

YOON has successfully entered the feature directing realm following an acclaimed career as a short filmmaker. She first drew international attention and several awards for Guest in 2011 and then truly captured the festival circuit’s attention in 2013 with her short Sprout, which featured TRAIN TO BUSAN’s child star KIM Su-an. The film debuted at the Busan International Film Festival, where it received the Sonje Award for the Best Short and then scored the Crystal Bear for Best Short the following year at Berlinale.

Following its release in Korea on June 16th, which netted it very strong critical notices and excellent viewer scores, The World of Us attracted 35,712 viewers, a healthy total for an independent production. To date the film has screened at a dozen international film events, including the Udine Far East Film Festival, the TIFF Kids International Film Festival, the Shanghai International Film Festival and the ZLIN Film Festival- International Film Festival for Children, where it received the Golden Slipper and City of Zlín Award - for Best Child Actor in Feature Film for Children.

The 12th Tel Aviv International Children and Youth Film Festival took place from July 7th to July 16th.
