SHIN Su-won’s 3rd Feature Continues Festival Run
Adding to its growing list of festival invites,
SHIN Su-won’s critically acclaimed third feature
Madonna has secured a screening at the Chennai International Film Festival (CIFF) in India. To be featured in the festival’s ‘World Cinema’ program, the title is among the first wave of announced films for the 13th CIFF, which will kick off on December 10th.
Madonna premiered in the Un Certain Regard lineup of the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year, and has gone on to screen around the world, including at the Busan, BFI London and Rio de Janeiro International Film Festivals. It most recently screened at the Hawaii International Film Festival, where it earned the Halekulani Golden Orchid Award for Best Narrative Feature.
SHIN has drawn acclaim for all her films, which include
Passerby #3 (2010) and
PLUTO (2013), and was the recipient of the Canal+ Prize during Critics Week at the Cannes Film Festival for her short The
Circle Line in 2012.
The film features
SEO Young-hee (
Bedevilled, 2010) as a nursing assistant at an upscale, private clinic, who takes an interest in the past of Jane Doe (
KWON So-hyun) who passes through her doors and is doomed to be harvested to keep a comatose corporate head on life support for the sake of his greedy son. Newcomer KWON recently picked up the Best New Actress Prize at the
Korean Association of Film Critics Awards for her part.
