Asiana Intl. Short Film Festival Reviewing 5281 Entries from 124 Countries
The
Asiana International Short Film Festival (AISFF), which is headed by veteran actor
AHN Sung-ki, welcomed a record number of submissions ahead of its 13th edition to be held in November. AISFF’s call for entry led to 5,281 submissions coming in from 124 countries, a 25% increase over last year’s figures, with much of the additional numbers coming from an increase in foreign entries.
Among those works, 863 were domestic while the remaining 4,418 were sent from overseas (a 29% rise over last year). Within foreign submissions, 14% were experimental works, 12% animation and 10% documentary. For local submissions, those figures were 18% for animation, 4% for experimental and 3% for documentary.
A selection jury comprising of film critic HEO Nam-woong, director
LEE Hyuk-sang, journalist JANG Seong-ran, screenwriter
JO Seong-geol and programmer JI Se-yeon will look over the entries and announce the finalists for the international and domestic competition by mid-September.
Taking place at the
Cinecube theater in Gwanghwamun in Central Seoul, the 13th Asiana International Short Film Festival is set to take place from November 5th to 10th.
