BiFan Project Market Takes Shape for 2015
The Network of Asian Fantastic Films (NAFF) announced its 2015 ‘It Project’ this morning, which will include 21 participants from 12 countries. The projects, seven of which hail from Korea, were chosen from 171 submissions.
Among the Korean participants,
Journals of Musan (2010) and
Alive director
PARK Jung-bum will take part with
Never Die Again while
KIM Gok, one of the directors of 2012 BiFan opening film Horror Stories, will return with
The Bunker. On the foreign side, HK director PANG Ho-cheung (
Vulgaria, 2012) is a producer on WAN Chi Man’s
The Hell Bank Heist, while stop motion animator Isabel Peppard (
Butterflies, 2012) will attend with
Silk. Two former participants of NAFF’s Fantastic Film School, Justin Deimen and Chris Weatherspoon, will also participate.
Running alongside the
Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival (BiFan), NAFF’s ‘It Project’ is a genre film project market that has been running since 2008. During that time, 130 projects have been presented at NAFF, with 35 of those completed and released theatrically to date. Some of the event’s most successful projects include Korean films
The King of Pigs (2011),
Azooma (2012) and
The Terror, LIVE (2013) and
Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow (2013) from Taiwan and the Indonesian film
The Raid 2: Berandal.
Projects will take part in one-on-one business meetings and be up for various cash awards worth KRW 66 million (USD 59,300) and post-production support prizes. The 8th edition of NAFF will take place over July 19th to 22nd.
