  • Korean Thriller BLIND Gets Chinese Remake
  • by Pierce Conran /  Feb 25, 2015
  • Redo WIll Feature EXO Member Luhan

The popular 2011 Korean thriller Blind (2011) is set to get a Chinese remake, tentatively called I Am a Witness. The film will star Luhan, a former member of the Korean-Chinese pop group EXO, who also featured in this year’s 20 Once Again, also a remake of a Korean feature, this time Miss Granny.

Featuring KIM Ha-neul and YOO Seung-ho, Blind told the story of a promising police cadet who had to quit the academy when she lost her sight. However, when she becomes a witness in a hit and run case, she uses her keen intuition to help the detective in charge. The original, which was directed by AHN Sang-hoon, attracted a sturdy 2.37 million viewers to theaters. AHN’s new film, the period film Empire of Lust, will be released in local theaters on March 5th.

Luhan's star has risen quickly in China over the last year but he has been involved in a legal dispute with SM Entertainment over his current activities which the management group claim he has been performing in violation of his contract with them. Meanwhile, the film will also feature YANG Mi, star of the immensely popular Chinese film franchise Tiny Times.

I Am a Witness will be co-produced by Beijing firm New Clues Film and Shanghai-based Jaywalk Studio. The film is due to go before cameras next month.
