Filmasia, the Film Festival on Asian Cinema in Prague, is getting set to open the doors to it 10th anniversary edition, which will kick of on December 1st. As in previous years, the Korean delegation is leading next month’s lineup, with no less than 13 films from the Land of the Morning Calm, including a retrospective on director PARK Chan-wook and the selection of Bong Joon Ho’s Snowpiercer as the event’s closing film.

Bong’s sci-fi epic debuted last summer in Korea, where it quickly racked up over nine million admissions, making it the third most successful domestic release of 2013. Subsequently, the film had impressive runs in France and China before gaining a release in the United States this year, following its North American premiere as the opening film of the Los Angeles Film Festival.

Famed Korean auteur PARK Chan-wook will receive a six film retrospective, featuring all his films from 2002 on, including Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance (2002), Oldboy (2003),  Sympathy For Lady Vengeance (2005), I’m a Cyborg But That’s OK (2006), Thirst (2009) and Stoker. In addition, he also served as a produced on Snowpiercer. Meanwhile Snowpiercer director Bong produced another of the films on show this year, SHIM Sung-bo’s debut Haemoo.

Other commercial Korean films that will be featured in Prague include the hit melodrama Miracle in Cell No. 7, the hit man thriller No Tears for the Dead, the period drama The Face Reader, the black comedy thriller A Hard Day and the thriller Hwayi: A Monster Boy. Opening the festival, which concludes on December 7th, will be YEE Chih-Yen’s Meeting Dr. Sun from Taiwan.
