  • 2nd San Diego Korean Film Festival Will Kick Off on August 22nd

  • Eight Korean Films to Screen Including THE FATAL ENCOUNTER as Opening
      
     

    The San Diego Korean Film Festival began with the aim of publicizing Korean culture thorough Korean films in 2013. The second festival will kick off on August 22nd. The second San Diego Korean Film Festival will run at Mission Valley UltraStar Cinemas from August 22nd to 24th. The second festival will present a total of eight quality and popular Korean films to serve its purpose. 
     
    Films to be screened on the eve of the festival on August 22nd are Man on the Edge (2013) by director JO Jin-kyu, Secretly Greatly (2013) by director JANG Cheol-soo, The Face Reader (2013) by director HAN Jae-rim and The Attorney (2013) by director YANG Woo-suk. On August 23rd, the festival will hold its opening ceremony and screen The Fatal Encounter, a LEE Jae-kyoo film. August 24th program will feature Commitment (2013) by director PARK Hong-soo, Thread of Lies (2013) by director LEE Han, and The Suspect (2013) by director WON Shin-yun. The opening film The Fatal Encounter will be replayed on the day as well.
     
    KIM Dong-ho, chairman of the Cultural Promotion Committee, LEE Chun-yun, president of Cine 2000, actors AHN Sung-ki and PARK Joong-hoon were invited as special Korean guests to the film festival. Moreover, LEE Han, the director of Thread of Lies will visit the festival and have a meeting with audiences on August 24th. “Many audiences’ interest and support made the first San Diego Korean Film Festival very successful,” said CHUNG Chang-hwa, the chairman of the festival's organizing committee, about the opening of the second festival. “The first festival proved its growth potential. We are planning to make more efforts to present Korean films to the local community and Korean residents. I am sure that our film festival will serve as a steady cultural communication channel such as inviting filmmakers and actors in the future.”
