The online streaming site DramaFever, a popular resource for Korean drama, variety and reality shows, is making a bigger push into online film streaming after expanding its film library following new deals struck with Showbox and Lotte Entertainment. The new pacts deliver over two dozen titles to the American streaming service, 15 of which are being rolled out each Saturday, as of last week (August 2nd) when it premiered Lotte’s romance feature Very Ordinary Couple.

 

Following its founding in 2009, DramaFever has grown into a major New York-based purveyor of online content, currently maintaining a collection consisting of 700 titles and some 14,000 episodes of television, which stretch beyond Korean content into the rest of Asia, as well as Europe and Latin America. Through a group of investors that includes AMC Networks and Youtube co-founder Steve CHEN, the outfit has raised USD 12 million to date. DramaFever has also sealed deals to offer some of its content on streaming giants Amazon, Hulu, iTunes and Netflix.

 

The company wields exclusive rights to its new Showbox and Lotte titles for the full American continent over the next three and six months, respectively. Below is the full list of its 15-week premiere lineup, which includes a number of US premieres. Other films in their library include various Asian titles from the Well Go USA catalogue and Korean hits such as The Man from Nowhere (2010).
