  • 2 Korean Projects Pitched at Sunny Side of the Doc
  • by June KIM /  Jun 30, 2014
  • Doc film professionals gather from around the world

Sunny Side of the Doc is an international documentary film market in France’s la Rochelle. It operates to promote co-productions and sales relationships amongst production companies and broadcasters. Founded 25 years ago, this market has split out to subsections and established an Asian based event titled Asian Side of the Doc 5 years ago, and its 2011’s edition was held in Seoul. This year’s Asian Side of the Doc was held in Chengdu, China in March, and the main event took place June 23rd to 25th in France.

This year, Korea Radio Promotion Association came on board as a new partner in support of Sunny Side’s services. Sunny Side of the Doc offers various opportunities for networking and sharing industry knowledge. Debates, panels and workshops are abundant with key players from the industry, including keynotes, showcases and screenings. There are also pitching sessions and networking opportunities.

Korean projects selected for the pitching section include King in a Cage by Blue Rhino Pictures in Science & Nature portion, and Becoming Who I Was by Prosum Inc. in Politics & Society portion. Other pitching sessions include subjects in History, Arts & Culture, Mix Docs, and Interactive Factual Doc. 35 producers will be given the opportunity to share their ideas, and there will be awards to be won in each of the 6 categories. The pitches will be moderated by John Farren, Nick Ware, and Björn Jensen.

Industry professionals are gathering from Australia, South Africa, Canada, South Korea, Brazil and Morocco, making a rare chance to have global key individuals in one spot.
