Jazz singer, NA Yoon-seon also wins the award
Paris Korean Film Festival, jazz singer NA Yoon-seon and Benjamine Joinau were presented with the ‘2013 Prix Culturel France-Corée’. The ‘2013 Prix Culturel France-Corée’ was founded in 1999 and was made to recognize the individuals and organizations that led to the enrichment of exchange between France and Korea.
As the chair of the selection committee for the awards, LEE Hye-min, the Korean Ambassador in Paris, announced that the awards were presented on the 28th (local time) at the Korean Cultural Centre in France in Paris. With sponsorship from BNP Paribas, each winner was presented with 5000 Euros along with their certificates.
Paris Korean Film Festival has been operating since 2006 in one of the most cultural cities in the world, Paris. They were recognized for their work in exposing and promoting Korean films to the community. The 8th edition which was held last year, approximately ten thousand European attendees were at Champs-Élysées for the festival, showing the popularity and growth of the event.
NA is one of the leading Korean jazz singers who performed at the prestigious Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris as well as in Germany throughout her career, which have led to exposing Korea through her performances.
Anthropology Dr. Benjamine Joinau has been running the publishing company, L'Atelier des Cahiers and has published and introduced Korean literature from writer PARK Wan-seo and philosopher PARK Lee-moon in France.
In the past, conductor CHUNG Myung-hoon, pianist BAEK Geon-woo, publisher Philippe Picquier, and Vesoul Asian Film Festival have won the award.
