6 Korean Films Invited Including SNOWPIERCER and MOEBIUS
Han Gong-ju by director LEE Su-jin has been invited to the International Competition of the 28th Fribourg International Film Festival (FIFF).
The film depicts high school girl Gong-ju who has a painful memory but tries to move on with a new life. It began its honor roll by picking up awards from the Busan International Film Festival last year, adding new accolades from the Marrakesh and Rotterdam International Film Festivals and Deauville Asian Film Festival this year. FIFF selected Han Gong-ju, as the only Korean movie in its International Competition for its 2014 edition. The Bird Who Stops In The Air (1999) by JEON Soo-il and Poetry (2010) by LEE Chang-dong previously received the Regard d'Or, the festival’s top prize.
Also invited are Snowpiercer by Bong Joon Ho and Moebius by KIM Ki-duk, which will screen in the Midnight section. The festival also announced that Haeundae (2009), The Tower (2012), The Flu and Snowpiercer would screen in this year’s ‘Genre Cinema: Survive!’ program.
FIFF will take place in Fribourg, Switzerland from the 28th of this month until the 5th of next month. Opening the festival will be A Prayer for Rain by Ravi Kumar.
