SONG Kang-ho Hit Goes to North America in February

The Attorney, the current king of the Korean box office which has reigned for the past three weeks, has been picked up by Well Go USA for US distribution. The film will hit North American screens on February 7th.

Based on the early years of former Korean Roh Moo-hyun, when he was a human rights lawyer in Busan during the 1980s, the debut film of director YANG Woo-suk has brought in 8.19 million viewers to date. The Attorney is actor SONG Kang-ho’s third hit in a row, following BONG Joon-ho’s Snowpiercer and HAN Jae-rim’s The Face Reader, which reached 9.3 million and 9.1 million admissions, respectively.

Well Go USA, a Texas-based distributor that specializes in Asian genre fare, has released a number of Korean films over the last few years. Their 2013 acquisitions included PARK Hoon-jung’s gangster saga New World, the hitman thriller A Company Man (2012) and North Korean spy film Commitment. They are also releasing the current number two at the box office, WON Shin-yun's spy action-thriller The Suspect, on US screens this Friday (January 10th).

YANG’s The Attorney, which was produced by NEW and is handled internationally by Finecut, will be released in 15 cities, including Los Angeles, on over 30 screens next month.
