The Stockholm International Film Festival, which kicked off its 2013 edition on Wednesday, November 6th, invited eight Korean films, including seven features and one short, to its selection this year. The festival, which is in the midst of its 24th edition, is going on for 11 days and will wrap its run on November 17th.
Stockholm’s Asian Images section will feature five Korean films, including the popular thriller
Cold Eyes, starring SEOL Kyung-gu, JUNG Woo-sung and HAN Hyo-joo, which drew 5.5 million spectators domestically and screened at the Toronto International Film Festival, LEE Won-suk’s refreshing romantic comedy
How to Use Guys with Secret Tips, the hit gangland thriller
New World, staring LEE Jung-jae, CHOI Min-shik and HWANG Jung-min, and both of HONG Sangsoo’s 2013 offerings, the Berlinale competition entry
Nobody’s Daughter Haewon and
Our Sunhi, which picked up the Silver Leopard at the Locarno International Film Festival.
In addition, the K-horror omnibus sequel
Horror Stories II will screen as part of Twilight Zone, KIM Ki-duk’s controversial new film
Moebius will be included in the Spotlight lineup, while MOON Byoung-gon’s
Safe, which earned the Short Film Palme d’Or at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, will take part in the Short Film Competition.
180 films from 50 countries will screen at the Stockholm Film Festival this year, which opened with Steve McQueen’s
