  • by Pierce Conran /  Jul 11, 2013
  • Acquires HOW TO USE GUYS WITH SECRET TIPS and BOOMERANG FAMILY

Following a hiatus since their acquisition of LEE Chang-dong’s Peppermint Candy (1999) in 2010, the UK-based Asian film distributor Third Window Films is getting back into the realm of Korean film as it recently selected two new titles. The romcom How to Use Guys with Secret Tips and the family dramedy Boomerang Family are being prepped for release in early 2014.

In addition to Peppermint Candy, Third Window was also responsible for introducing diverse films such as Dasepo Naughty Girls (2006), The President’s Last Bang (2005), Wild Card (2003), Oasis (2002), No Blood No Tears (2002), Friend (2001), Guns and Talk (2001), Say Yes (2001), Kick the Moon (2001), Teenage Hooker Became a Killing Machine (2000), Green Fish (1997) and No. 3 (1997) to UK audiences.

Boomerang Family is the new film of director SONG Hae-seong, previously responsible for films such as Failan (2001) and Maundy Thursday (2006). It stars PARK Hae-il, KONG Hyo-jin and YOON Je-moon as middle-aged siblings who wind up back under their mother’s roof and quickly get on each other nerves.

The debut film How to Use Guys with Secret Tips from filmmaker Lee Won-suk, has been hailed as a fresh and innovative romantic comedy. The colorful romance tale set in the world of commercial filmmaking stars LEE Si-young and OH Jung-se.
