It appears that Korean moviegoers like HA Jung-woo and KIM Hye-soo the most while HWANG Jung-min and JEON Do-yeon were picked as best actors. This is according to 23,336 moviegoers’ answer to an email survey conducted by the movie ticket purchase site Maxmovie from April 16-23. The responders were those who visited the movies at least once from May in 2012 to April in 2013.

 

HA Jung-woo ranked first as the most popular actor for the second year in a row. KIM Hye-soo was chosen to be the most popular actress. JEON Do-yeon became the best actress for the third consecutive time. HWANG Jung-min was picked as the best actor.

 

Maxmovie added, “Either best actors or popular actors, it is notable that audiences’ preference for Korean actors is not simply about their star quality.” “Korean audiences put more importance on actors’ acting careers and the credibility they have shown.”

 

Meanwhile, Maxmovie’s survey results also said that Korean audiences are more dependent on their acquaintances than online reviews when it comes to picking a movie to see. Maxmovie explained, “This shows that the film market has grown and more varied movies have appeared, making it difficult for moviegoers to choose films. According to the survey, ads and trailers appeared to be the most powerful standard for selecting movies (48%). Recommendations from friends was the second most(18.8%) popular, and online reviews were the third.
