It’s a busy period for festivals and Korean works in particular are finding a lot of success on the circuit. Now festivals in San Francisco and Boston have followed suit by adding Korean films to their programs.
The San Francisco International Film Festival has chosen a pair of recent Korean features for its 56th edition, which will take place from April 25th to May 9th. KANG Yi-kwan’s award-winning independent feature Juvenile Offender, which took off during last year’s Toronto International Film Festival, was selected along with the commercial gangster hit Nameless Gangster: Rules of the Time, starring CHOI Min-shik and HA Jung-woo.

Meanwhile, the Boston Underground Film Festival, which recently completed its 2013 edition on March 31st, screened KIM Ki-duk’s Pieta. The film, which kicked off its extraordinary run with a Golden Lion win during last September’s Venice International Film Festival, has appeared at numerous festivals. The film is also slated to open in the US on April 12th on Video on Demand and on May 17th in theaters, courtesy of Drafthouse Films.
