Dublin International Film Festival Latest Festival to award popular animation
Though it had its premiere all the way back in the 16th
Busan International Film Festival in 2011, the dark Korean animation
The King of Pigs is still forging an impressive path on the festival circuit, having picked up yet another award. Its latest honor is a Jury Prize, which it was handed at the Jamesone Dublin International Film Festival. Meanwhile Best Film was awarded to the Lithuanian film
Vanishing Waves.
YEUN Sang-ho’s debut feature, which features the voices of popular indie stars
KIM Kkobbi and
YANG Ik-june, is a no holds barred look at the vicious bullying which exists in the Korean school system. The film has been an enormous hit on the international film festival scene, having participated in over 30 events. It began its’ road to success with a trio of wins at Busan and its latest accolade comes at the 17-month mark of its lengthy global campaign.
Last year, YEUN also produced a military service-set mid-length feature called The Window and he is now working on his eagerly anticipated sophomore feature.
