50 Screenings in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane
Growing by leaps and bounds every year, the Korean Film Festival in Australia (KOFFIA) will soon be returning for its fourth edition, to be held in August and September in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. KOFFIA has attracted 10,000 viewers to date across its three locations and plans to hold 50 screenings this summer.
Coming about 100 days ahead of its 2013 edition, KOFFIA has offered a teasing glimpse of what will appear on the program, announcing five of its features and one short. Among the major films that will screen this year are
KIM Ki-duk’s hard-hitting
Pieta, which scooped up the Golden Lion at last year’s Venice International Film Festival before travelling all around the world. Joining it in the lineup will be a trio of 2012’s biggest blockbusters.
CHOI Dong-hoon’s ensemble caper film
The Thieves, last year’s most successful Korean film, will screen alongside
JO Sung-hee’s fantasy romance
A Werewolf Boy and
KIM Ji-hoon’s inferno feature
The Tower.
Kicking off in Brisbane from August 14-18, KOFFIA will then travel to its hub in Sydney for eight days beginning August 21st before wrapping up in Melbourne from September 5-11.
