6 Key Tasks Announced for the Film Industry Development

KOFIC recently reported ‘6 key tasks for the Film Industry Development’ to CHOUNG Byoung-gug, the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism on April 26. The tasks are; creating sustainable growing engines by increasing the global competitiveness; improving the industry and creating a fair competition environment; building an industrial safety system through improving the working condition of staffs; accomplishing cultural welfare by expanding the public service; improving the operating process of KOFIC and expanding the communication channel with the film industry; building the fundament for the industry toward the future. Above all, KOFIC revitalizes “supporting program for international co-production” and plans to make an agreement for joint production with China in order to reinforce the global competitiveness of Korean film. And KOFIC will announce a proposal for “standard screening contract” to improve the long lasting unfair market practice in the field in May, and attract Hollywood movies to Korea with a new reimbursement system to return its production cost to the foreign film shot or done a post production process in Korea. In addition, KOFIC will partially support the labor charge for 70 selected films annually to improve the working conditions for the staff and revitalize film production.
