The 20th edition of Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival was equipped with programs that had been considerably improved both quantitatively and qualitatively. Special programs that you don’t want to miss, including a new program called Family Zone, provided fantastic gifts both for film manias and general audience this summer.

Especially, several programs were introduced focusing on Korean cinema, new Korean filmmakers and film businessmen. First of all, the Korean Fantastic section was made in the competition to help to discover new Korean films and promote them. In addition, B.I.G(BIFAN Industry Gathering) was newly launched to help Bucheon Film Festival to become the heart of Asian genre film industry, by expanding NAFF, an existing film production network for Asian fantastic cinema. B.I.G introduced new programs including Made in Asia, a networking venue to discuss the Asian film industry trend; and Shoot for Your Tomorrow!, a pitching program for domestic rookie directors; to contribute to the development of Korean film industry in the long run.

In 2016 BIFAN-KoBiz online screening, you will be able to witness the evolution of Korean genre cinema through a notable line-up of films. It is to screen 43 films altogether, including Late Bloomer by SO Joon-moon, which is a love poem of an ordinary old man; How to pick a lock by KIM Kwang-bin, where the natural conversation between a boy and his jobless uncle is very much impressive; Cliché Resistance by LEE Won-geun, where the clichés of horror genre are worked out, in a haunted setting; BJ Pink by KIM Hye-yeong and SNS by YU Seung-in, both of which criticize the issue of isolation caused by SNS media; and The Big Deal by KIM Hye-sung, dealing with a big dream of an ordinary couple.

2016 BIFAN-KoBiz online screening is to open on August 11th on the KoBiz online screening site (screening.koreanfilm.or.kr).
