  • The Korean Film Council (Chairman KIM Eui-suk) began to make its entry into Central and South America. The Korea Film Council will hold a general event to publicize Korean cinema under the theme of “Meeting between Korea and Mexico” in Mexico City from August 27th through 30th. The event includes the Special Screening of Korean Films that features 10 Korean films jointly with the Korean Cultural Center in Mexico and Cineteca Nacional of Mexico, a forum to devise measures to promote cooperation between the two nations, support for the screening of Korean films for Mexican buyers and sales of Korean films and An Evening of Korean Cinema.

Mexico is the largest film market in Central and South America. In 2013, its theaters inked 257 million admissions and posted US$932.48 million in sales. In addition, Mexico loves the Korean cultural wave, paving the way for Korean films. Mexico has 70 Korean cultural wave clubs, more than any other countries. The Korean Film expects the event to give a boost its advancement into the Central and South American film markets.
